Virgin Olive Oil Sponsors Events and Feeds Athletes
NEW HAVEN, Conn., August 18-26, 2006
As during these last few years, the health benefits of Extra
Virgin Olive Oil are underscored by Monini’s sponsorship
of the athletic event: Monini North America, will be among
the sponsors of the 2006 Pilot
Pen Tennis tournament.
By special arrangement, Monini Extra Virgin Olive Oil also
will be served to the participating athletes during the weeklong
tournament. Studies have shown that extra virgin olive
oil contributes to a healthy digestive system,
is excellent for brain activity and bone mineralization,
and reduces the rate of cardiovascular illness by lowering
cholesterol levels.
PilotPen Participation
This internationally recognized tournament is played at the
Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University and is the preceding
WTA tournament to the US Open. It has been one of the major
stops on the worldwide WTA tour since 1988. Past champions
include Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, Lindsay
Davenport, and Venus Williams. The tournament begins August
18 with a qualifying draw including 50 athletes and ends on
August 26.

Monini’s six foot olive mascot, Oliver, will
be present for Kid’s Day on August 20 as well as during
the final days of the event.

live jazz by the Neighborhood Music School Jazz Ensemble,
wine tasting with wine professionals from New Haven’s
The Wine Thief and world-class tennis. This sweet deal includes
jazz, wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a box seat for Session
7, a Riedel wine glass and bottle stopper, all for $105, with
a portion of the proceeds benefiting the USTA Tennis &
Education Foundation.

Shops at Mohegan Sun Fashion Show
Session 11 – 6:00pm
Great style and sportsmanship come together as Mohegan Sun
and Pilot Pen Tennis present a fashion show featuring the
latest styles by The Shops at Mohegan Sun Fashion Show. Tickets
include a VIP seat for the Fashion Show, a goody bag (valued
at over $250) and a box seat for the evening’s semi-final
matches, all for $105. General viewing of the Fashion Show
in the picnic area will be available for Session 11 ticket
holders.
