Zakka helps raise $7K for breast cancer
research GREENWICH, CONN. —
The Ramze Zakka Restaurant Group, which
operates in Westchester County, N.Y.,
and Fairfield County, Conn.,teamed up
with The Breast Cancer Alliance, based
here, to raise $7,000 for breast cancer
research through its “Taste for
Health” event. The event highlighted
the health benefits of the Mediterranean
diet through a menu promotion at Ramze
Zakka’s five restaurants. Tables
at each restaurant featured menu cards
that promoted Mediterranean items, which
have been noted for their cancer-fighting
properties. Mediterranean cuisine boasts
a high level of omega- 3 fatty acids,
which are found in fish, extra-virgin
olive oil, and a wide variety
of fruits and vegetables.
Participating restaurants included Terra
and Mediterraneo, both of which are located
here; Acqua in Westport, Conn.; Solé
in New Canaan, Conn.; and Aurora in Rye,
N.Y.
Co-sponsors included Albert DeAngelis,
executive chef of the Ramze Zakka Restaurant
Group; Marco Petrini, president
of Monini North America, an importer and
distributor of specialty olive oil;
and Dr. Barry Boyd, director of integrated
medicine at Greenwich Hospital.
