Monini
is pleased to announce the
opening of the "Frantoio del Poggiolo,"
a culinary and manufacturing complex. "Poggiolo"
means "little hill" and this new factory rises out
of the beauty of the Umbrian hills Monini has always called
home. Now in this advanced facility, the Monini family can
experiment with harvesting methods, olive storage, extraction
methods and even agricultural research.
The Frantoio will also be a center for culinary experimentation.
Here, Monini will welcome chefs from around the world, introduce
them to the fine points of olive oil production, and discover
new ways to explore the many aspects of olive oil in cooking.
Surrounding the Frantoio are the olive groves, the
traditional, old olive grove planted with the typical Umbrian
variety “Moraiolo” extending for 18 acres. Its
easy layout allows for organic farming with quality control.
Three more young olive groves were planted with different
varieties, and Zefferino Monini looks forward to experimenting
with the new flavors.
The heart of the facility is the new olive oil press.
For the very delicate phase of crushing of the olives, Monini
has chosen Pieralisi, the world leader in oil extraction machine
company. The partner will set up the olive press in the conditions
for testing and making use of all the new technological advances.
The Monini experience was essential in choosing the
type of press and the best production technology. The press
works continuously by means of a Centrifugal extraction system
that, besides giving excellent qualitative results, also guarantees
maximum hygiene. Its production capacity of 48,000kg of olives/day
reduces the period of time that the olives are stored in the
mill. But as it has always been, it is the human element that
sets Monini apart.
Four generations of experience has created a unique
expertise in selecting the choicest olives, the purest tasting
oil, the most
refined fragrances expressed by the extra virgin olive oil.
Only this human touch could create an oil like "DOP UMBRIA",
an “Umbrian” DOP product produced in the local
tradition with meticulous attention to quality, and all the
varieties of Monini Italy, and now America, have come to cherish.
