MONINI
& FESTIVAL OF TWO WORLDS |
June-July
(annual)
Spoleto, Italy
MONINI SPONSOR since 1958
Italy's leading the international arts festival, "The
Festival of Two Worlds", which is a World Wide
attraction that involes music, dance and theatre scene.
This wonderful event takes place in Spoleto, (Italy)
the last week of June and the first two weeks of July.
"An
ideal Artist's place".
Maestro, Giancarlo Menotti
Gian Carlo Menotti, a Pulitzer Prize winning composer,
founded
The Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival
of Two Worlds) in Spoleto, Italy in 1958. The festival
was meant to be a forum for American artists to showcase
their talents. Soon, Spoleto became a home for singers,
actors, dancers and visual artists to produce traditional
and experimental works.
In 1977, Menotti decided to create a U.S. version of
the festival. After examining many U.S. cities, he found
Charleston,
South Carolina to be best suited to host Spoleto
USA. It is large enough to handle 17 days of non-stop
events and small enough to recreate Spoleto, Italy's
charm.
The Spoleto festival has maintained the original festival's
traditions while establishing a reputation as a premier
artistic event. It is a forum for the audience to see
the world's best known artists. And it is a medium to
expose young talent to the professional world.

IL MONELLO
ARRIVES ON U.S. SHORES |
Events 2002 IL MONELLO ARRIVES ON U.S. SHORES
Annual First Pressed Olives Produce Extraordinary Extra
Virgin Olive Oil for 2002
February 28 - Connoisseurs of the finest fruit
of the olive tree will soon be treated to Monini's fantastic
il Monello "novello" (new production) for 2002.
With a tip of the branch to the annual introduction of
Beaujolais Nouveau, the initial crush of the season's
first olives is also eagerly awaited by those with sophisticated
palates. Within the next week, il Monello will be available
from coast to coast in high-quality food emporiums and
restaurants.Devoted consumers of il Monello annually await
the new production, bottled in November and available
only during the first few months of the year. They know
that the oil obtained from the first olives of the season
has deliciously complex attributes, a distinct aroma of
green tomato and fresh grassy fruitiness and a taste that's
appealingly sharp and pungent, definitely a flavor to
savor. These traits result from both the way the fruit
is crushed and the fact that the first ripe olives are
used immediately after they're meticulously hand-picked.
Il Monello's color resembles that of a deep green leaf
accented by a warm, golden hue. It has a veiled aspect
as it is bottled immediately after production without
filtering or alteration. The product's unique qualities
reminded many of the energy, spontaneity and vigor of
a child, inspiring the name il monello, Italian for lively
little rascal.Italy's climate and geographic location
make it the ideal country for growing olives. Olive trees
abounded in every region and Monello, with great care,
picks the best olives in the country for its products.
"This was an exceptional year for our olive crop,"
commented Marco Pertain, President Monini USA. "The
climate this season, although not ideal for high quantity,
proved absolutely perfect for quality. Our Il Monello,

MONINI
SPONSOR - America's Cup 2003 |
Monini is basic supplier sponsor of MASCALZONE LATINO
team, the Italian boat that participates in the America's Cup
Challenger 2003
Mascalzone
Latino Challenge, Italy
Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia
Head of the syndicate is Vincenzo Onorato has assembled
a full-blooded Italian team to challenge for the 2003
America's Cup. The team is supported by their main sponsor,
TIM, an Italian mobile phone network. You can find a
list of all of basic suppliers on the Mascalzone Latino
WEB SITE.
Onarato is billed as the skipper as
well as syndicate head, but it is likely that the young
and talented match racer Paolo Ciann from Naples will
steer the boat. Their new boats will be designed by
Giovanni Ceccarelli and built at the Tencara yard in
Venice, where the Il Moros of 1992 were built.
Mascalzone
Latino (Latin Rascal) has only been established for
around 20 months. The lack of preparation time compared
to other syndicates could be cause for concern. They
have missed at least one year.
With an extra year Onorato feels that
the Syndicate could have built two new generation boats,
as it is, due to the lack of time the ability to test
their design and boat has been significantly reduced. |

Monini
Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sponsors Events and Feeds Athletes
In
August, Monini Extra Virgin Olive Oil will
be sponsoring the 2003 New York City Cycling
Classic and the 2003 Pilot Pen Tennis
tournament.
The health benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil are underscored
by Monini’s sponsorship of two leading area athletic
events.
Pilot Pen Participation
Monini
Extra Virgin Olive Oil will be among the sponsors of
the Pilot Pen Tennis tournament, returning to New Haven,
CT this August. This internationally recognized tournament
is played at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University
and is the preceding WTA tournament to the US Open.
It has been one of the major stops on the worldwide
WTA tour since 1988. Past champions include Steffi Graf,
Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, Lindsay Davenport,
and Venus Williams. The tournament begins August 15
with a qualifying draw including 50 athletes and ends
on August 23. Monini’s six foot olive mascot,
Oliver, will be present for Kid’s Day on August
17 as well as during the final days of the event.
By special arrangement, Monini Extra Virgin Olive Oil
also will be served to the participating athletes during
the weeklong tournament. Studies have shown that extra
virgin olive oil contributes to a healthy digestive
system, is excellent for brain activity and bone mineralization,
and reduces the rate of cardiovascular illness by lowering
cholesterol levels. Monini is the leading extra
virgin olive oil in Italy. In 1995, the Journal of National
Cancer Institute reported that olive oil offers strong
protection in the fight against breast cancer.
“It’s the prefect partnership to
have Monini sponsor these events,” remarked
Marco Petrini, president of Monini North America. “To
be healthy you need to eat well and exercise. Monini
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is excellent for athletes of
all levels.”

Monini is
the Main Sponsor of the project
"K2 2004 - 50 Years Later "
The company based in Spoleto, Italy
and market leader for Extra Virgin Olive Oil has always
had in its strategic approach values like tradition
and quality. K2 is known as the "italian mountain";
just like Monini is known as the "italians' extra
virgin olive oil". Both are italian success stories.
Such an incredible accomplishment requires a perfect
form, a body able to withstand extreme conditions, therefore
it requires a perfect diet and training.
The role of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a diet is crucial,
particularly at high altitudes where the body needs
more fat and an ingredient that facilitates the organic
functions.
It is also important to note that most foods at high
altitudes are dehydrated, and the use of Extra Virgin
Olive Oil is essential for its taste and breakdown.
For the "K2 2004" expedition, Monini has choosen
among the items of its "BIOS" line. This Organic
Extra Virgin Olive Oil of superior quality is a 100%
Italian product obtained from organic olive groves.
It is the perfect oil for those who want to live in
total harmony with nature and respect its importance.
50
years after the first successful ascent of K2 Italians
are returning to the Karakoram to celebrate that memorable
moment etched in
history on July 31, 1954 by Achille Compagnoni, Lino
Lacedelli and their teammates under the leadership of
Ardito Desio.
This large, ambitious Italian expedition
is sending a 19-member team to scale Everest’s
north side this spring then two large teams to scale
K2 from each side in commemoration the 50th anniversary
of K2’s first ascent (by Italy).

MONINI S.P.A. SPONSORS : Umbria Jazz, Italy
|
|
|
Umbria
Jazz has brought the best music to Umbria for
more than 30 years. Monini is the most important
and well known olive oil company from Umbria since
1950. Both entities have the same passion for
excellence, and it was only natural that they
would meet sooner or later.
It is normal for those who appreciate the harmonious
sound of the jazz classics to also appreciate
the balanced flavor of one of the great “classic”
Extra Virgin Olive Oils: the Monini Originale.
And for those who love the strong emotions of
a jam session the intense flavor of the Monini
Fruttato is a perfect compliment.
All of this will be happening this year at Umbria
Jazz where Monini will be present for the first
time to let the public taste its fantastic products.
By blending together a tasty “bruschetta”,
a mild summer evening, a wonderful Umbrian town,
with the notes of a jazz master, we can recreate
a magical experience. It is difficult to find
a more perfect balance.

About
Umbria Jazz Umbria
Jazz Festival 2004 is, without any doubt, one
of the most important event dedicated to jazz
in Europe. Since 1973, when was inaugurated the
first edition of the Festival Umbria Jazz, the
biggest jazz artists have come to Perugia: during
the '70 Dizzy Gillespie, Sam Rivers, Herbie Hanckok,
Enrico Rava, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton and during
the more recent editions of the festival Dee Dee
Bridgewater, Gilberto Gil , Milton Nascimento,
Terence Blanchard, Paolo Conte, Vinicio Capossela,
Nicola Arigliano, Miriam Makeba, Renzo Arbore
and its Swing Maniacs, Sergio Cammariere, The
Coolbone Brass Band of New Orleans, Lyle Henderson
& Emmanuel Gospel Singers.
Also the Umbria Jazz Festival 2004 will take place
during the month of July for ten days during which
from morning to evening, without any continuity,
in the historic center of Perugia, will take place
dozens of concerts with musical offers covering
the entire music kinds to meet the tastes of a
public always more heterogeneous. Perugia will
become, once again, a meeting point for thousands
of music lovers, coming from all over Italy but
also from Europe and the United States.
